Trump Has Sit Down Interview With Celebrity Therapist Dr.Phil

Former president Donald Trump sat with prominent TV host Dr. Phil in an exclusive interview. This interview is the first of many during the election cycle. It is not unusual for candidates to agree to have unconventional interviews as a form of campaigning. Like Trump, Harris appeared on Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show as a guest to answer a few questions. By appearing on non-traditional media sources alongside notable media figures, Presidential candidates can hope to appeal to a larger audience. Dr.Phil has a large social presence on daytime television that draws in many viewers, creating a strong fanbase.

It's clear to see that Trump has hoped to gain news traction and potential new voters by agreeing to be interviewed by Dr.Phil. While the television host did state that he was not endorsing either candidate before the start of the interview, there were times when he was in agreeance with the claims of an unfair felony convention made by Trump. So while Dr.Phil was yet to verbally endorse candidate Trump, some have gathered that him even willing to conduct the one-on-one interview and acknowledged Trump's false conviction claims serve as a non-verbal endorsement.

  1. I really enjoy your blog topic and this post in particular is very interesting! In one of my other classes, I am studying how celebrity endorsements affect voter turnout so I will absolutely stay in tune with your updates! You make a good point in noticing that although Dr. Phil does not directly endorse Trump, he may influence the public opinion in subtle ways in his willingness to agree with him.

  2. Although I don’t agree with the assumption that Dr. Phil conducted a non-verbal agreement that he endorses Trump. Just like with Kamala on Jimmy Kimmel I look at it as a campaign tour same as a press tour knowing the main goal is to reach more viewers but I can understand that picking who comes on your show can define that persons moral judgment in some cases.
